Pibo Marquez
He was born in Caracas June twentytwo of 1966. To an early age, he began experiencing music by the incentive of his family. He began his musical studies of cuatro, an string instrument of great root in the Venezuelan music, in the school Cabrini Mother and from there his participation in different folklore groups with just 8 years of age.
He continued his formation at the popular school Cristo Rey, in the district 23 de Enero at Caracas where he refined his pleasure for the Latin American percussion and its origins. Then he received classes with different professors of popular style and he links himself with works of investigation about cultural and traditional manifestations of different regions all over Venezuela. This work soon extends to other countries in Latin America, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Surinam, having the support of an important cultural organization in Venezuela. In these journeys he has the possibility of entering in direct contact with the cultural manifestations of these countries, study them, and learn them.

From 1980, he has the opportunity to put into practice what he learned from these experiences linking them with different groups of Venezuelan folklore up to 1984 when Grupo MADERA summoned him. This group of international recognition helps him to show his excellent musical capacity and his extensive knowledge of the percussion. With Grupo MADERA he tours for different countries from Latin America and Europe.

|
In 1989, he separates from Grupo MADERA and begins to carry out works in other musical styles like salsa, Latin jazz, contemporary music for dance and theater, and rock among others. Starting in 1992, he moves to Colombia where he resides for a period of 6 years. During this time, he puts his knowledge into the service of recordings and concerts with different local and international artists inside which they stand out personalities like José Carreras, Paloma San Basilio, the violinist Alfredo de la Fe, the pianist Edy Martinez, the Mexican singer and composer Armando Manzanero, Justo Almario, Luis Perico Ortiz, Bobby Carcases, the Colombian orchestra of Salsa music Guayacan, the singers Margarita Rosa de Francisco and Amparo Sandino, and the group of theater Mapa Teatro.

|
In 1998, he has the luck of participating in the Jazz Festival of Montreaux with the orchestra of Alfredo de la Fe. After this, he was invited by Carlos Santana to carry out some songs. He considers Carlos Santana one of the gods of the Latin Music in all its manifestations. During the first semester of 1998, he records what he considers it is a reflection of his own expression. It is an independent production denominated "JOEL PIBO MARQUEZ, CON LAS MANOS CALIENTES." In this production he counts with the participation of musicians of high coming level from different latitudes, in particular, the well known Cuban bass player Diego Valdes with whom he shares this production. This is a work from great musical maturity in which he expressed a great , range of colors of the percussion. He has wakened up the interest of the experts, musicians and the public in general, surpassing his own expectation which reached the idea of sharing ideas with some friends.
